About us
The remote, eastern tip of New Zealand is the first place in the world to see the sun rise. This rugged land is part of the Raukumara Conservation Park, 115,000 hectares of largely untouched, dense Mānuka forest. It is home to Ngati Porou, the indigenous Māori tribe that has protected and preserved this area for hundreds of years.
The park has a dedicated team tasked with ensuring the forest remains in pristine condition for future generations. With its warm climate and rich natural resources, this land provides the ideal home for our bees
This is where Te Ihi is born.

PROTECT
In the Māori language, the name Te Ihi describes the essential force that gives us vitality and energy; it is a link between the physical and the spiritual. Through traditional Māori customs that protect and support the community and the land, we elevate the powerful healing properties of Mānuka and bring you products that help you feel nourished, nurtured and protected.

TRADITION AND CRAFT
The wealth of knowledge and experience we bring to our products makes us unlike other honey producers. Our 75 years of beekeeping expertise shared across our team ensures we maintain the highest standards and enables us to train and empower our local workforce.
Mānuka honey isn’t just what we produce; it’s who we are. Our passion for the Mānuka product we produce defines us. It’s this deep connection to our craft and community that makes Te Ihi special.

Looking after the future
We are well on our way to being a fully sustainable business. We’re implementing it in every facet of our work—caring for our bees, our land, and our business. This dedication safeguards the legacy of the honeybee and mānuka tree, allowing their stories to continue for generations.
